It’s easier to join the conversation than create a new one

Assalamu alaikum! This is Maruf, co-founder of Hala.Ad. As you know, sometimes we share case studies that after a while we started working on them. But this time we would like to do a small experiment and start putting a lot of our cases as we go long. 

So today, I’d like to talk about the Dhikr.IO. So, first of all, what’s the Dhikr.IO? Let me tell you briefly what it is. It’s an app that will help you remember like, you know as Muslim, you have daily prayer. I have to remember God. 

So this app is going to help you with that as you can see the main functionality of the app, is that to help you with your daily routine, Dhikr list and Quran Recitation and Salah. So, one of our main challenges was to help them to create more awareness, more engagement, of course as well as the app installs as well. 

So before we get into the result, I would like to also tell you how it was before. So we started working in the middle of this June. So  it’s like we can work on the client and this client and an app probably to see the respectable. So this is how it was before as you can see they had this daily. 

I think probably Daily Posts and it has engaged below somewhere here. So they have that Daily Post and the engagement on those are like a very minimal like five, six likes and they had 36 followers and this is the after. So as you can see, we start doing a post about this design. 

So this is one of the examples like it is from Baqarah, Allah said if you remember me, I’ll remember you. But if you notice that engagement like almost 1000 times, right and also the page post as well.

And also you can see that poster on a weekly basis and the use as well. So as you can see before and after like into 3, which is huge at that the question is, how did we achieve to this results? And let’s breakdown how it works at step. So in this nutshelter is three things, right? 

In our case, It was the finally get our story, our story to tell, the story telling, the second one was the theme, right? What is the theme of our page and communication. One of the things we see all the time when many brands that they only talk about themselves, not really thinking about what kind of value they’re giving to their fans and followers, right? 

That’s why the engagement is very low in most of the pages and last but not the least is that we have to admit that. Yes, we did use money to boost with the post but you will be surprised how much is the amount of you know, it’s not $2000 or $1000. It’s that barely $200 right to achieve these results. 

And so, let’s get into this storytelling part. So one thing is the way we can suggest that they carry around it, is that to create a very beautiful introduction. So I’m going to play just like five to ten seconds. You can watch the full video on YouTube. 

So you get the idea that just gives and very minimale and clean overview of the app. So it will help us to know the advertise and to get more views affordably not on Facebook or Instagram, but all the other channels as well. So this video to show so tell us about pretty where there’s also the storytelling part as well to tell you what it is how it does. So the next part we want is the theme. 

The same is that we figured. So if you go back, yeah, look at this image what will you see? What are  the emotions? Whatever it takes. We try to convey our followers. What I think is okay. This is the app about that you can remember Allah. So as Muslims you know we get or any profit. So the question was that how do we still convey to this? 

What is the end result? If you think about as a user you can be someone was following this page. What is it we wanna give? Our answer was that as Allah says in the Quran as well the hearts truly find peace, by remembering God, so we said, okay, let’s try to come up with that peace, serenity, themes. 

One of the first thing we could think about is nature. So we began to focus on the nature, the sunrise, the sunset and it’s beautiful. Since it’s nature, we’ll remember in sort from the Quran and the Hadith as well. To have people remember, so they can find happiness. As you can see, everything we do is gonna be about that theme, helping people to find inner peace. That’s the theme we have. 

The last from the list is the app we sort of running page likes and a variance because it’s like a one-day $1 like we’re getting like almost one cent and also there was the most important is that the app installs and the Senate so we’ll set up install. These are the countries, english speaking countries in the western countries. Otherwise looking given cheaper, but that’s not the point. 

The point is that once we begin to run the ads near the engagement and It’s about you know, customer. It’s about just reaching about. It’s a cool app. We’re giving them value but that there aren’t going to convert into app users or even paid users becomes much much easier. 

So this is our progress so far with the Dhikr.IO in two, three weeks we’ll upload to another video probably in a month or maybe a couple of months to share the bigger picture how we are turning them into brand-new launch that into something one of those top double apps. How Halal.Ad Helped Majestic Quran 10X Their Traffic & Revenue in 3 Months

I first heard about the Majestic Quran project via Launch Good. So, what is it all about? The promo video said, “we are translating the Quran into a modern, simple and relatable English”. They were raising funds to complete the project. I loved the idea and donated to the project.

After a few months, I got this Majestic Quran with the most beautiful cover.

It was love at first sight even without opening the cover. It was beautifully designed. Besides, the cover photo background is the dome of a mosque.
This design is very common where I come from Uzbekistan and Central Asia.

Real Gem Inside
However, the real gem was waiting inside. After I started reading it, I began to realize what I was missing from the other English translation of the Quran.

The translator Dr. Musharraf Hussain did a great job. Instead of translating verse by verse, he translated by sections and paragraphs. So when you read, there is a better flow and coherence.

Besides, there are headings for each section so you can easily get the main point for that section. It replaced my existing translation which I used to read on my phone.

Why am I telling you all these?
You may be wondering why I am telling you all these. What about the revenue and numbers? We will get to that in a moment. I just wanted to be mindful and grateful to Allah SWT that we are blessed to work with such projects. Alhamdulillah. We could have worked with any companies. However, we intentionally wanted to help Muslim owned companies grow.

I think this is how Atif Hussain – the son of Dr. Musharraf reached out to us early January this year. Once I know it was this project and the team who produced my favorite Quran translated, I said to myself “we should really help them to reach far and beyond, iA.”

I took the photo I shared earlier and shared with Atif if it is this Quran 🙂

I was sold on the idea. All we need to discuss was how we can help.

Atif told us that they were getting 3-5 sales per day. He felt they could do better with ads and they needed help. Ideally, they would like to increase sales to 7 to 10 copies per day.

We sat down together and came up with the following strategy for the short term and long term. In the short term, we will optimize the site and bring more traffic via paid advertising. In the long term, we will need to create a content strategy that will increase the traffic via free channels like search engines and social media.

Short Term Strategy
We understood our client wanted to increase their revenue. One way of increasing sales is to bring more potential buyers to your website via paid advertising.

Site Optimisation
Their site was on WordPress and most elements were in the right place.
All we had to improve the product page by adding the customer testimonials and the top navigation by simplifying it for the visitors.

Another advantage for Majestic Quran was that they already had their customer video testimonials and the promo video they produced earlier for their crowdfunding campaign. We have used them as a starting point for our advertising campaigns. We wanted to start with social ads namely Facebook and Instagram.

Long Term Strategy
Our long term strategy needs to include some kind of content we know. However, the main challenge is lack or shortage of manpower for many non-profits similar to Majestic Quran. So whatever we come up with had to require as little time as possible from the team yet we could reach as many people as possible.

Think Quran Podcast
Alhamdulillah, the outcome was Think Quran Podcast. It is a weekly Quran Podcast where Dr. Musharraf reads one short surah or section from Quran first in Arabic then in English. It starts with juz 30 first then goes to Juz 29, etc. Here you can subscribe and listen to the episodes:

Produce Once. Distribute Many.
As mentioned above, whatever we produced, we had to utilize it to the max.
Since Dr. Musharraf recorded his episodes in video format, we could use it as a video as well as audio.

So we created a podcast with the audio files. We also created a new YouTube channel for Majestic Quran where we distribute the video files.

Moreover, we convinced the team in creating dedicated pages for Facebook and Instagram as well. Before they were using their other non-profit page Karimia Institute. We understand they were using one page to keep things simple. But we know from our experience that every brand should have its own page especially Majestic Quran. Alhamdulillah, the team listened and followed our advice.

Their website traffic increased by 10 fold since we started working with them. It is the result of our cooperation and working together.

This spike resulted in sales as well. While we can’t quote the exact number, I recently talked to Atif and he mentioned that the sales are 10 times larger compared to the time before we started working together.

How Understand Quran Academy got from 0 traffic to 100.000 free organic SEO visitors per month?

What you see above a snapshot of the organic search engine traffic from one of our clients. 

In a nutshell, we helped this client from almost zero traffic to around 100.000 monthly organic search engine visitors per month. So how did we do it? Before we jump into how, let’s discuss what SEO is first. 

What is SEO?

SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization. In other words, it is a process of how you optimize your site when someone searches for a specific keyword or a set of keywords. 

These days every man and his dog seems to offer SEO services. Why is it so buzzy word? 

Look, if you own a business and especially your business is online, you need traffic. Traffic equals people. If you get relevant people to your site searching for a product or service you offer, it is only a matter of time before they buy from you. Onsite SEO starts with making sure your website pages, titles, tags, content and overall structure are optimized for your target keywords. It doesn’t stop there. You should also create content relevant to the keywords you want to rank for. 

You also need to make sure that you have a significant of inbound links from highly respected external websites – that’s called offsite SEO. We don’t focus on offsite SEO in this article. 

How did we do it?

As you may remember that onsite SEO is not only about optimizing your page title and the content for specific keywords. It doesn’t stop there. It is also finding out what relevant keywords people are using on Google or other search engines then analyze which are less competitive to rank for. This is what we found out about our main keyword “quran”:

Long term game

Once you know the keywords and key phrases people are searching, the next step is to write valuable content for those key phrases. 

SEO is a long term game. You should persist and be patient. You need a schedule, a team of writers who can write on the topics discovered during the research phase.

In our case, we started to write one blog article per week. By the way, remember SEO is not only to rank for search engines, but it is also for your users to give value.

Return on investment

After writing the article for the week, we would share with the client’s email subscribers and share on their social media channels as well. In a way, these articles would serve us not only help us rank better on search engines, but also provide education and tips for our existing audience.

It will in return create trust between the company and the users especially those who haven’t purchased the product yet. While you will need to wait longer to see the increase in traffic via SEO, it doesn’t have to take long to see the increase in revenue from your existing traffic.
