“Yet something, or rather Someone, was missing in my life.”
I was born in Uzbekistan, where Imam Al Bukhari is from. I lived there for the first 20 years of my life.
When I was 20, I traveled to Denmark to study. I had only $7 in my pocket.
For the next 10 years, I chased the things of this world (dunya). Alhamdulillah, I established a family with three kids. I got a house and a car. It seemed I had everything. Yet something, or rather Someone, was missing in my life.
Seeking the Missing Puzzle of My Life
For the last 10 years, I have been doing my best to fill that gap and to start listening and responding to my soul’s longing for God. That same longing is within each one of us.
I realized that for the first part of my life, all the books, movies, and media that I consumed had all made Allah (SWT) seem irrelevant, far away, and separate from everyday life.
Same Old Pattern
In the last 10 years, I have talked to thousands of Muslim entrepreneurs, professionals, and community members from all walks of life. I noticed a similar pattern. They all read similar books and watched similar movies and media. They also felt a big void in their lives, just the way I did.
Even though we are Muslims, alhamdulillah, somehow somewhere we started to “believe” the secular stories and suggestions in these books, movies, and media that tell us that Allah (SWT) is not part of, or relevant to, our success. Some of us willingly and sometimes subconsciously start to limit our awareness of Allah (SWT). We only remember Allah when we go to the masjid, or in similar cases. I was one of them, unfortunately.
What we say in our prayers doesn’t match what we do in life.
Not Business, but Busyness with Allah
Life is made of 3 big parts:
- 1/3 is sleep;
- 1/3 is social life – a tiny portion of this we use for prayers;
- 1/3 is study or work.
We often think that the last third (study or work) is about us, and we view it as strictly related to business or worldly achievement. But until we turn this business into busyness with Allah, we will never fill that void. We will never find peace.
Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find peace.

Because, if we fill this gap with anything or anyone but Allah, our souls will never truly feel satisfied. This is because Allah (SWT) created us to know, serve, and love Him. This is what we also promised, submitted, and surrendered to when we said: “There is no god (nothing or no one worthy of placing in the center of my life) except Allah.”
7 Steps to Success in Deen & Dunya
In the last 10 years, I have done my best to solve this problem by trying to turn to Allah and by doing my part to put that into real, practical action. In doing so, I discovered valuable approaches to life and business that I began to share with other Muslim entrepreneurs and professionals. I want to share those same steps with you, which is why I wrote the book ‘7 Steps to Success in Deen & Dunya’.

In other words, it will help you to discover your purpose and passion in life so you follow a path to prosperity – a blissful life with barakah (blessings) so you serve Allah (SWT) in the best way by serving others.
